SmartComposite System

The SmartComposite system is the first completely integrated, robust and reliable SHM system developed by Acellent specifically for detection of impact-induced damage or delamination/debonding in large composite structures. The system integrates the hardware (ScanGenie), software, and SMART Layer together for improving the ease of practical use, enhancing resolution and quantification, and for improved reliability.

FEATURES/CAPABILITIES

Key features of the system include miniaturized lightweight hardware, self-diagnostics and an adaptive algorithm to automatically compensate for damaged sensors, reliable damage detection under different environmental conditions, and generation of POD curves.  In addition, state-of-the-art techniques to optimize sensor placement, automated calibration, and automated damage detection with no user interpretation of data make it an efficient and user-friendly system.

COMPONENTS

The SmartComposite system package comprises of the following components

1.      SMART Layers designed for the composite structure

3.      SmartComposite software – innovative diagnostic software tailored to provide ease of use and instant damage information for the composite structure. The software is housed in Windows 2000 or XP Pro PC.
